suppose an active jehovah's witness sees a worldly person abusing a worldly child; for example, touching her genitals, and the witness goes to the police.
the worldly police will take action.. now, suppose the same jehovah's witness also sees a witness abusing a witness child in the same way, touching her genitals.
the witness knows he can't go to the elders because there are not two witnesses to the fact.. does the witness get to think that there is something very wrong about the two witnesses rule?

So true! Until I lived it, I would have never thought the things I saw could possibly happen in "God's organization"

So true! I could not believe the number of people (including elders) who knew of the sexual abuse and who kept silent allowing more victims to be victimized simply because they, for reasons I will never understand or appreciate, chose to remain silent. And, all it would have taken was for one person to have the courage and strength of character to sound a warning and they just did'nt.

After that aired on NBC I fully expected that, at the next Thur night meeting, they would have for us an "official" letter of explanation from the Borg or some guidance as to how to, at a minimum, respond to this bad press when out in service let alone how to understand this issue for ourselves. To my surprise nothing at that meeting nor any meeting to follow. Not a word was said and has been said! I was in shocK and I felt so sorry for the poor Pioneers who had to go door to door after this news with nothing to say in honest rebuttal.

i was speaking with an older sister who is quite zealous and she is typical of many who are concerned that men are not reaching out.
she notes that young men in particular have no interest in doing anything, congregation-wise.. the change in this area is quite dramatic, if you can remember that once, being an elder was an aspiration of nearly every brother - and we had plenty of young men to run the mics and hand out magazines.

But I'm sure some of this time has been used for harmful meddling and harmful gossip....My family and marriage was broken because of this. Mine is just history repeating.
I lost my marriage this way too. In my case it was harmful meddling by the elders that distroyed my marriage.

Funny, not long ago I went out with a group from my Hall after the Sunday meeting for lunch and one brother made the comment that he couldn't understand why more people didn't accept the "Truth" because it was "so logical!"

a brother i spoke with from bethel to me seemed discouraged and lacking zeal latley...he spoke of leaving which shocked me since he was there for decades...he left to get a full time job!!!
it was his whole reason for living since i've known him!
others have said the new doctrine of "blended generations" of anionted seeing armagedon is "confusing" or "i just don't get it"...one brother my only close friend is furious and said i qoute..."they seem to be blowing smoke up our ass!
I've got a strange theory.
Could it be that the WT is "shooting itself in the foot" because the real God (and not the WT's Jehovah) is taking advantage of the GB's arrogance and stupidity by getting them to do studid things that make people wake up or at least wonder? After all we have the UN scandal, Bulgaria, CofC, etc, etc and the brainwashing and social gap made by the removal of the Book Study (again, a stupid idea). And now, as others have pointed out, they raise the Generation issue and repeat its "new light" many times, when they could have easily avoided this mess, by keeping "their mouths shut".
All these things are stupid acts by WT that make me wonder if a higher force is forcing them to expose themselves to the R&F and, in the case of the removal of the Book Study, make JWs less brainwashed, more to themselves to "think" and, for a "brother", less under pressure to be involved via reading and prayer.
Just a thought.

there's a small difference, overall, but in some countries the number of those leaving might even be slightly above the number of those joining.
and this has been a problem for ever.. i would like some insight into the minds of those who stay in, not because of family reasons, not because of fear, old age, parental control, but because they really believe the scam.

For years I stayed in the JWs by using what I justified as my Bull S**t Meter. As long as if hovered below 50% BS and didn't harm people I was OK. Generally for about 30 years the BS Meter was at about between 30% and 40%. However, as time passed and more info became available the BS Meter started registering 50%, then 60%, then 70% and, almost out of habit, I stayed. Then I started to see the harm to people with the result that the meter went to 80%, followed by the UN scandal, CofC and Bulgaria and you've got a Meter at 90% ready to hit 100%.

My start of not being a moron is when years ago an elder thought his councel to me, that the organization only approves of it's web site as a place to go respecting JWs, would work and that, as a result, I would not look at anywhere else. That set off an alarm sound in my head....what is it I and others should not see? I thought to myself, hell no one buys a TV these days without Googling the brand/model on the internet. What makes me and other JWs think their religion is any different, especially given the level of commitment expected. Thus, I immediately went home and found this site and the rest is history!

my assembly was a couple of weeks ago and lets just say the only way i could possibly get through that b.s was by having some "funny stuff" before the sessions, then to my car at lunch.
pretty much slept the days away.
my wife would constintaly ask me what was wrong with me, i said i was feeling really sick.
I went and fortunately my wife felt ill so we missed a lot of the sessions. But I did get to hear the Generation BS. Now for a huge confession that I feel so guilty about....
At the end of the last day my wife gave me $20 cash to put in the contribution box. To please her I planned to put it in the box but when I got to the box I just could'nt do it and didn't.
Now for the part that I feel so guilty about. It's not me not putting the money in, it's the fact that that evening when my wife asked if I put the money in I lied and said "yes" I hate this hypocritical game I must play to keep peace and I feel so bad that I had to lie to her. If I had said No we would have had an argument.
